Terms of Service
General terms, appointment conditions, and clinical service framework for clients of Soothing Souls Counselling.
Last updated: October 2026
1. Nature and Scope of Services
Soothing Souls Counselling provides virtual clinical counselling psychotherapy services delivered by Rimsha Qureshi, Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP), Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #29320), and member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
Services are provided exclusively to clients who are physically located within the province of British Columbia, Canada at the time of each appointment. If a client is outside British Columbia, sessions cannot legally proceed due to professional regulatory jurisdiction.
2. Not an Emergency or Acute Crisis Service
Soothing Souls Counselling is an outpatient, appointment-based private practice. We do not provide 24/7 crisis response or emergency intervention. If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of suicide, acute severe distress, or immediate danger, call 911 or call/text 988 (Suicide Crisis Helpline). You can also reach the 24/7 BC Crisis Line at 1-800-784-2433.
3. Appointments, Fees, and Payment
- Free 15-Minute Consultation: $0 initial consult. Designed to evaluate mutual fit. One consult per prospective client.
- Individual Counselling (50 minutes): $ CAD.
- Couples Counselling (75 minutes): $ CAD.
- ICBC Enhanced Care Treatment (50 minutes): Billed to ICBC at standard provincial rates ($160) for eligible active claims.
Payment is due on the day of the session. Official receipts indicating the counsellor’s registration (RCC #29320) are issued immediately following payment for insurance reimbursement.
4. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
Therapy requires mutual commitment. When an appointment is scheduled, that time block is reserved specifically for you and cannot be offered to other clients on our waitlist.
We require a minimum of 24 hours’ advance notice for cancellations or rescheduling requests. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments without notification, are subject to a late-cancellation fee . Insurers and ICBC do not pay for missed or late-cancelled appointments; late fees are the sole responsibility of the client.
5. Virtual Technology Requirements
Clients are responsible for securing a reliable high-speed internet connection, a functional computer, tablet, or smartphone with camera and microphone, and a private, quiet physical room free from interruptions. If technical connectivity fails, sessions may be transitioned to telephone.
6. Clinical Outcomes Disclaimer
Psychological counselling is a collaborative process that requires active participation, reflection, and practice between sessions. While evidence-based modalities are employed, individual experiences with counselling vary and therapeutic outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Therapy may at times evoke difficult or painful emotions as challenging experiences are processed.
