How the Care Compass Works
The Care Compass is designed to remove the uncertainty of starting therapy. When experiencing distress, anxiety, or relationship strain, sorting through clinical terms and insurance policies creates unnecessary friction. This tool organizes your choices around four foundational decisions: your current primary concern, where you prefer to meet, how you plan to manage fees, and your preferred language.
Unlike automated symptom screeners, the Care Compass does not attempt to score your emotions or diagnose clinical conditions. Instead, it provides practical navigation so you know exactly what service to request, which documents to prepare, and what your estimated out-of-pocket investment will be before scheduling your first appointment.
Choosing Your Format: In-Person in Surrey vs. Virtual Care Across BC
Soothing Souls Counselling offers a dual-delivery model tailored to your comfort and schedule:
- In-Person in Surrey: Ideal for clients who prefer a dedicated, neutral clinical environment outside their home or workplace. Sessions take place in a private, quiet clinic space in Surrey with transit accessibility and dedicated parking. In-person therapy provides face-to-face connection and sensory grounding away from daily household distractions.
- Secure Virtual Sessions Across BC: Conducted via confidential, encrypted Canadian telehealth software. Virtual sessions eliminate commuting stress, traffic across Fraser Highway or Highway 1, parking fees, and childcare scheduling hurdles. Clients anywhere in British Columbia—from Greater Vancouver and Victoria to Prince George and the Okanagan—can attend from the comfort of their home or private office.
- Flexible Hybrid Care: Many clients choose to start with an in-person session in Surrey and transition to virtual therapy during busy workweeks or adverse weather, keeping their care consistent.
Understanding Your Billing & Coverage Route
Navigating mental health fees in British Columbia can be challenging. Here is how our primary billing pathways function:
- Extended Health Insurance: Rimsha Qureshi is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #29320) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Many workplace benefit plans (Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife, Green Shield, and others) provide annual allowances for RCC services. We provide instant clinical receipts complete with provider registration numbers for swift online reimbursement.
- ICBC Enhanced Care Direct Billing: If you were involved in a motor vehicle accident in British Columbia, ICBC Enhanced Care covers up to 12 counselling sessions within the first 12 weeks from your crash date. You do not need a doctor's referral or pre-approval from an adjuster to begin. We direct bill ICBC directly at the standard $160 rate, meaning eligible clients typically pay nothing out of pocket.
- Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP): Direct billing is available for clients who have an approved claim through the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. We bill CVAP directly according to program guidelines.
- Private Pay: Clients without extended insurance can pay securely using credit card or Interac e-Transfer. Fees are $160 for a 50-minute individual session and $190 for a 75-minute couples session. Free 15-minute consultations are always $0 initial consult.
Culturally Responsive & Trilingual Counselling
Language and culture profoundly influence how emotional stress, grief, and family obligations are felt and expressed. Rimsha Qureshi offers therapy fluently in English, Urdu (اردو), and Hindi (हिन्दी). Clients from South Asian backgrounds frequently report relief at not having to explain cultural dynamics such as collective family expectations, arranged marriage discussions, immigration resettlement challenges, or the stigma surrounding mental health.
Privacy & Data Transparency
Your privacy is an absolute clinical priority. The Care Compass runs entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. No responses you select are tracked, transmitted across the internet, stored in databases, or linked to your identity. When you close or refresh this page, all selections are instantly cleared.
