Quick Check: Calling Your Insurance Plan

Not sure if your extended health plan covers counselling? Here is a simple, copy-ready script you can use when calling your benefits provider or HR department:

“Hello, I would like to check my mental health benefits. Does my extended health plan cover services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors? What is my coverage limit per session, what is my annual maximum, and does my plan renew on January 1st or a different policy date?”

ICBC Enhanced Care & CVAP Coverage

Direct billing is available for eligible ICBC Enhanced Care and CVAP claims. ICBC Enhanced Care pre-approves up to 12 counselling treatments in the first 12 weeks after a crash, subject to ICBC eligibility; further sessions need ICBC approval. CVAP funding depends on an approved application with the Crime Victim Assistance Program.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a scheduled session without charge. Because appointment slots are reserved exclusively for you, cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments are billed at the late cancellation fee .

We accept credit card, Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit, and Interac e-Transfer. Payment is processed following each session, and official receipts with Rimsha's RCC #29320 credentials are issued immediately.

Fees & Insurance FAQs

Does my extended health benefits plan cover Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC)?

Many extended health benefit plans in British Columbia include coverage for Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC #29320) through the BCACC. Because benefit packages vary widely by employer, union, and insurer, we recommend checking your benefits booklet or calling your insurance provider using the script below to verify RCC coverage.

How does direct billing to insurance work?

We offer direct billing for participating extended health plans via TELUS eClaims and Provider Connect (such as Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Canada Life, and Manulife). If your specific plan does not permit direct billing or requires a member co-pay, an official receipt containing Rimsha's registration number is emailed immediately following payment for effortless claim submission.

How does ICBC and CVAP direct billing work?

Direct billing is available for eligible ICBC Enhanced Care and CVAP claims. For ICBC, up to 12 counselling treatments are pre-approved in the first 12 weeks after an accident date, subject to ICBC eligibility. For CVAP, funding depends on an approved application with the Crime Victim Assistance Program. Sessions are direct-billed according to program rules.

Are clinical counselling fees tax-deductible in Canada?

In British Columbia, psychological services provided by Registered Clinical Counsellors may qualify as an eligible medical expense under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC) if not reimbursed by extended health insurance. Please consult a qualified tax professional regarding your personal eligibility.

What is your appointment cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment without charge. Because appointment times are held exclusively for you, cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments are subject to the late cancellation fee . We understand genuine medical emergencies happen and evaluate them compassionately.
