REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELLOR

About Rimsha Qureshi,
MACP, RCC #29320

Providing trauma-informed, culturally attuned in-person counselling in Surrey and secure virtual therapy across British Columbia.

A Warm, Collaborative Approach to Healing

Counselling should never feel like an interrogation or a clinical checklist. I believe that therapy is first and foremost a collaborative, human connection — a safe, confidential sanctuary where you can speak honestly, unburden survival strategies that no longer serve you, and develop practical tools for lasting emotional balance.

Many individuals who reach out to me are exhausted from carrying chronic anxiety, unprocessed trauma, relationship strain, or the silent weight of burnout. When life feels overwhelming, it is natural to feel isolated. In our sessions, you are treated as a whole human being with dignity, resilience, and unique life context.

Practising Independently in Surrey

Rimsha practises independently as Soothing Souls Counselling and uses clinic space in Surrey by arrangement. Sessions are booked, billed, and documented through Soothing Souls Counselling.

“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive.” — Brené Brown

Verified Credentials You Can Check

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP). As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #29320), I am a member in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

Being a member of the BCACC means I adhere strictly to provincial ethical codes, ongoing continuing professional development, and clinical supervision standards so we can provide care within BC. Sessions with an RCC are eligible for reimbursement under many British Columbia extended health benefit plans.

Clinical Modalities & Therapeutic Frameworks

My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to your specific goals and nervous system capacity. Rather than forcing a rigid textbook formula, I draw from evidence-informed modalities including:

  • Trauma-Informed Practice: Ensuring physical and psychological safety, transparency, collaboration, and client empowerment at every step.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Identifying and gently restructuring unhelpful thought patterns, cognitive distortions, and catastrophic worry loops without toxic positivity.
  • Emotion-Focused Approaches: Helping partners de-escalate repetitive conflict cycles, identify core attachment vulnerabilities, and foster genuine emotional attunement.
  • Practical Somatic Grounding & Regulation Skills: Introducing pacing, physiological sigh breathing, and sensory anchoring skills that many clients find calming during acute stress.
  • Motivational Interviewing & Harm Reduction: Providing compassionate, non-judgmental support for substance use, habit changes, and behavioral health.
  • Narrative & Solution-Focused Approaches: Externalizing problems and identifying existing strengths to build sustainable forward momentum.

Cultural Sensitivity: English, Urdu & Hindi Fluency

As a South Asian practitioner fluent in English, Urdu (اردو), and Hindi (हिन्दी), I am deeply committed to providing culturally attuned therapy for immigrants, second-generation individuals, and intergenerational families in Surrey, Delta, and across BC.

Navigating family expectations, collectivist family dynamics, elder obligations, and cross-cultural marriage can bring unique emotional complexities. In our sessions, you never have to explain or justify your cultural background — we explore your experiences with nuanced understanding and respect.

Practice Scope & Consent Policy

Soothing Souls Counselling primarily supports individual adults, couples, and families navigating relational transitions. For youth counselling inquiries, consent guidelines under the British Columbia Infants Act apply. Where appropriate, we collaborate with parents while upholding the young person's therapeutic confidentiality.
