Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear answers regarding session formats, insurance coverage, direct billing, ICBC pre-approval, and bilingual care with Rimsha Qureshi, RCC.
Getting Started & Clinical Fit
What can I expect during the free 15-minute consultation?
The consultation is an unhurried, no-pressure phone or secure video call. You can share what you are experiencing, ask questions regarding Rimsha's training and modalities, and gauge whether her therapeutic style feels like a good match. There is zero obligation to proceed with paid sessions.
How do I know if therapy is the right choice for me?
If you feel overwhelmed by anxiety, disconnected from your relationships, weighed down by sadness, or stuck in repeating emotional loops, therapy can provide structured clarity. You do not need to be in acute crisis to benefit from counselling — many clients attend for personal growth, boundary setting, and proactive nervous system care.
How often should I attend sessions?
Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly appointments to establish emotional momentum and practice new regulation skills. As you gain confidence and stability, sessions can be spaced out to monthly check-ins. Pacing is always collaborative.
Virtual Telehealth & Session Privacy
How does virtual counselling work across British Columbia?
Virtual sessions are conducted through a secure, encrypted telehealth link sent to your email. You can join on a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. To protect your privacy and adhere to BCACC professional standards, you must be physically located within British Columbia during the appointment.
How effective is virtual online therapy compared to traditional office sessions?
Clinical research confirms that virtual therapy achieves comparable outcomes for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and couples counselling while providing the added comfort, privacy, and convenience of your personal environment with zero commute time.
How is my personal health information protected?
Soothing Souls Counselling adheres strictly to the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the BCACC Code of Ethical Conduct. All clinical records and video connections are housed in secure, Canadian-compliant digital systems.
Insurance, Rates & Direct Billing
Does extended health insurance cover Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC)?
Most extended health benefit plans in BC include coverage for Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC). Because employer policies vary, we always recommend verifying your specific mental health coverage with your insurance provider.
Do you direct-bill to insurance companies?
Yes. We direct-bill participating extended health plans through TELUS eClaims and Provider Connect (including Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Canada Life, and Manulife). Official receipts containing Rimsha's registration number (RCC #29320) are emailed immediately for self-submission if direct billing is unavailable on your plan.
What are your standard session fees?
Individual sessions are $160 for 50 minutes. Couples counselling sessions are $190 for an extended 75-minute format. Pre-approved ICBC Enhanced Care treatments are billed directly to ICBC at the standard $160 rate for eligible claims.
ICBC Motor Vehicle Accident Recovery
How does ICBC pre-approval work for crash survivors?
Under ICBC Enhanced Care, crash survivors are pre-approved for up to 12 counselling treatments within the first 12 weeks following their collision date. No doctor's referral is required for pre-approved care. Direct billing covers eligible claims.
Can you help with driving anxiety and passenger panic?
Yes. Specialized motor vehicle accident recovery addresses driving phobia, highway dread, intersection panic, and post-collision nightmares through gradual exposure and somatic regulation tools.
Bilingual Care: Urdu & Hindi
Can I receive counselling entirely in Urdu or Hindi?
Yes. Rimsha Qureshi is fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi. Sessions can take place completely in your preferred language or incorporate natural code-switching whenever certain emotional concepts are best expressed bilingually.
How do you approach South Asian family and intergenerational dynamics?
We provide an emotionally safe, non-judgmental space that respects collectivist family ties and filial respect while helping you build healthy personal boundaries and emotional clarity.
