What We Promise & What We Don't
Mental health care should be founded on complete honesty. Too many websites use vague claims, high-pressure sales, or unrealistic guarantees. Here is our unambiguous statement of what you can expect from us, alongside the realistic boundaries we uphold.
What We Promise You
Complete Fee Transparency & No Hidden Charges
We publish our exact fees in plain sight ($0 initial consult (15 mins), $160 for a 50-minute individual session, $190 for a 75-minute couples session, and $160 direct-billed to ICBC). You will never encounter surprise facility fees, credit card processing surcharges, or unexpected intake costs. If you are using extended health or ICBC, we explain your coverage route before your first charged session.
Zero High-Pressure Sales or Session Quotas
We will never pressure you to purchase packages of sessions or commit to months of therapy upfront. You decide session by session whether our work together continues to serve your life. If you feel ready to pause, space out appointments, or graduate from therapy, we celebrate your independence.
Respect for Your Emotional Pace
You are the expert on your life and your nervous system. We will never force you to recount traumatic memories or disclose private matters before you feel safe doing so. Healing happens through collaborative pacing, emotional regulation, and earned trust—not forced exposure.
Confidentiality Within Defined Legal Limits
Your personal information, clinical notes, and session disclosures are protected under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). We maintain strict privacy in all communications. We also promise to clearly explain the specific legal exceptions to confidentiality—imminent risk of self-harm or harm to others, suspected child or elder abuse, or formal court orders—so you always know exactly where the boundary lies.
Culturally Responsive, Fluent Care in English, Urdu & Hindi
If you choose to communicate in Urdu or Hindi, you will receive therapy from a practitioner who understands South Asian cultural nuance, familial expectations, and linguistic idioms fluently—without needing you to educate your therapist on your cultural context.
What We Do NOT Promise
No Guaranteed Cures or Fixed Timelines
Clinical counselling is a human, deeply individual process. Human emotion, grief, attachment trauma, and neurobiology cannot be reduced to a mechanical formula. While research suggests that clinical counselling can provide significant symptom relief and emotional regulation, outcomes cannot be universally guaranteed. Anyone promising a guaranteed cure in therapy is acting unethically.
No Formal Psychiatric Diagnoses or Prescription Medications
Rimsha Qureshi is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #29320) with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Counsellors in British Columbia provide psychotherapy, emotional processing, and coping skill development. We do not provide formal psychiatric diagnoses (such as DSM-5 bipolar or ADHD evaluations) or prescribe psychiatric medication. If your care requires medication management or a psychiatric assessment, we gladly coordinate with your family physician or psychiatrist.
No 24/7 Immediate Crisis Response
Soothing Souls Counselling is an outpatient clinical practice with scheduled appointments. We do not provide an immediate 24-hour crisis hotline. If you are experiencing an acute mental health emergency, severe suicidal ideation, or immediate risk of physical harm, we urge you to access British Columbia's dedicated 24/7 crisis resources: call or text 988, or call the BC Crisis Centre at 1-800-784-2433.
No Diagnosis by Website or Automated Tools
Our interactive tools (Care Compass, ICBC Window Calculator, and Insurance Estimator) provide logistical and financial guidance, not medical diagnoses. They cannot replace a comprehensive clinical assessment conducted in a private, collaborative setting.
Begin with Confidence
If our commitments and honest boundaries align with what you are looking for in a counsellor, we invite you to book an introductory conversation.
Individual experiences with counselling vary and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Immediate Crisis Support (24/7): If you are experiencing an acute mental health emergency or immediate thoughts of suicide, please call 911 or visit your nearest hospital emergency department.
